Taste of Downtown: A New Culinary Event in Chico

CHICO, Calif. – Get ready for a new culinary experience with the upcoming food festival, Taste of Downtown, set to take place in Chico. This exciting event will give attendees the opportunity to explore and enjoy the unique flavors of downtown restaurants.

Scheduled to begin on September 8, Taste of Downtown will allow food enthusiasts to embark on a gastronomic tour, sampling signature dishes from various eateries. Unlike its predecessor, Taste of Chico, which featured county-wide restaurants and was held in the bustling downtown streets, this event focuses exclusively on downtown Chico’s businesses.

The Downtown Chico Business Association (DCBA) highlights that this new format is more cost-effective for local restaurants, sparing them the expense and effort of setting up on the streets. “It’s increasingly challenging for restaurants to serve their renowned dishes in the streets of downtown Chico,” explained Debbie Laplant Moseley. “The process is extremely labor-intensive.”

In light of the struggles some eateries face, the DCBA believes this revamped approach will make the event more accessible and affordable for Chico’s culinary scene.

Taste of Downtown promises a delightful experience for all attendees, who will receive up to eight taste tickets to sample a variety of dishes. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., culminating with a free concert in the plaza from 3 to 5 p.m.
